The Director of Global Corporate Compliance will be responsible for setting up and maintaining a corporate compliance function with Adaptimmune. The Director will lead the uptake and incorporation of a compliance culture within Adaptimmune in a creative and forward thinking manner which takes into account the stage of development and diverse functional areas within the company.
The individual will be required to set up processes, provide training programs, build the learning management system and engage with all key stakeholders in the business. The ideal individual will have a background in compliance, particularly within the US and UK markets but international experience preferred.
Setting up and maintaining an effective corporate compliance function
Setting out and drafting processes and guidelines to ensure adherence to legal requirements, professional practices and industry standards
Updating processes to ensure compliance including tissue establishment licensing
Directing program, policies and practices to ensure functional areas are in compliance with all legal and reporting requirements.
Working with stakeholders within the business (for example legal, commercial, clinical compliance, finance, EH&
S, HR) to drive compliance including training programs
Educating the business on changes to compliance requirements
Setting up effective metrics and processes to ensure compliance is maintained
Managing and maintaining enterprise and legal risks matrix;
Working with functional compliance teams to maximise overall compliance effectiveness within the organisation
Monitoring of compliance within the organisation
Setting up appropriate monitoring and internal audit capabilities to assess ongoing compliance
Reporting on compliance achievement and providing route forward where any issues are identified
Active member of business continuity management team
Developing and effective training program within compliance function
Using learning management system to ensure effective roll-out of training
Maintaining corporate compliance training calendar
Advising on compliance approaches and compliance issues
Assisting General counsel and Compliance Officer with advice on compliance issues or questions around corporate compliance
BA/BS degree required;
English law qualified or equivalent
At least 5 years compliance or legal compliance experience
Appropriate qualification background
Broad knowledge of and significant legal experience within a compliance function
Previous experience within pharmaceutical industry and familiar with associated regulatory requirements
Previous experience within a listed company and familiar with listing requirements
Proven ability to think creatively and ?out of the box? when considering compliance training and motivation of a compliance culture
Experience of UK and US compliance requirements
Business-minded legal focus, pragmatic in problem solving
Experience with international regulatory requirements
Competent and outgoing personality
Pragmatic and proactive approach to problem solving
Prepared to take responsibility and move things forward independently
Able to interact with a wide variety of individuals both in the US and UK
Excellent ability to draft and construct processes and procedures
Other languages desirable
May require occasional travel to other offices
Given on-going COVID-19 restrictions, may need to be flexible in work location and work-from-home until restrictions are lifted.
