As Backend Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development and maintenance of server-side features, for Cloud-based (AWS) location based services and products.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for architecture of their own projects and working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary teams. Not just writing the code but defining the cloud architecture it will be running on.
Other parts of the role include maintaining the product, building the support infrastructure to test and deploy the product. Making use of popular CI tools like Jenkins CI, and deployment tools like helm and Terraform. As well as linking the product to our metrics tools like grafana and victorops.
While previous experience isn?t required with everything here, you?ll be working within a development environment using the following tools:
Relational (e.G. Postgres) and NoSQL (e.G. MongoDB, Redis) database systems
Messaging brokers (e.G. Rabbitmq)
Kubernetes managed with helm and Docker
AWS products and services all managed through Terraform
Jenkins CI and git
grafana, prometheus, victorops.We are looking for a mid/senior backend engineer with a wide breadth and depth of knowledge in development. With at least 3 years of backend experience, you will be expected to design, build and run low latency, scalable, reliable and secure cloud-based systems for a large number of users.
While we?d love experience of everything on this list, we?d like to hear from you if you have a good level of even half of this experience!
Solid experience in backend system architecture, incl. designing, building and running low latency, scalable, reliable and secure cloud-based systems for a large number of users
Good experience of designing scalable RDBMS and NoSQL databases (eg MongoDB, Redis).
Proficient in Python or with some Python experience and a keen interest to move into Python development.
Good knowledge of back-end systems and RESTful architectures exposing APIs to mobile apps.
Experience of using AWS or other cloud platforms.
Experience of building and running containerised applications.
Proven ability to deliver commercial software to deadlines.
Exposure to git, testing frameworks and continuous integration.
Great team player with excellent communication skills and work ethic ? the ability to manage a team is highly desirable particularly for the senior backend role
Flexible, dedicated and curious.
We\ 'd particularly love it if you have:
Prior experience of coordinating activities both within and across teams
Experience of web frameworks (eg Django, Flask, Tornado)
Knowledge of or experience with React or other client-side application
Experience of working with agile project management frameworks
